# Mic Rotation > Paste a karaoke night's sign-up sheet - singer, song, rough length, energy 1-5, solo / duet / group - plus the start time, the booking length and the changeover gap. See the night's energy curve as signed up, a setlist on the clock, turns per singer and a booking clock, with every pacing problem a host would catch flagged. A metered check puts every slot in a new order with a role (opener, build, peak, breather, sing-along, closer), cuts slots only when the night cannot fit the booking, writes short host cues and gives a keep / reshuffle / rebuild verdict; the page re-runs its own rules on the new order. https://mic-rotation.skillsafe.ai/ ## What it does - Free, in the browser (setkit.js, display.js): reads one slot a line ("Theo | Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond | 3:25 | 4 | solo"), pipe- or tab-separated, with or without a header row. Only singer and song are required; a missing length counts as 3.5 minutes and a missing energy as 3, both marked as estimates. "Lou & Kat" makes a duet; "Everyone" makes a group song that is no one's turn. - Flags on any order: the same singer twice in a row, a second turn before everyone has had a first, three or more slow songs (energy 1-2) in a row, four or more big songs (energy 4-5) in a row, a slow opener, a closer at energy 3 or less, a first-timer's solo right after an energy-5 solo, a song signed up twice, and songs plus changeovers running past the booking. - Its own verdict: rebuild (a repeat, or more than 10% over the booking), reshuffle (any other flag) or keep. - Metered, one task `order`: every slot once - in `order` `{slot, role, says, why}` or in `cuts` `{slot, says, why}` - plus host `cues` `{before, line}`, `host_notes`, a title, a summary and a verdict. - The page holds the reply to the sheet: unknown or repeated slot ids are not counted, slots the reply forgot keep their sign-up place at the end, every quote must appear in the slot's line as written, and the page re-runs all of its flags and the booking clock on the new order and says what is still off; it warns when cuts come with a keep or reshuffle verdict, when a rebuild cuts nothing on an overrun, and when a cut leaves a singer with no turn at all. ## Limits - Lengths and energies are what the host types or the page's estimates; the page does not know the songs, and neither the rules nor the check measure them. - The rules are a host's rules of thumb (a peak, then a breather; open warm, close big; first turns before second turns). - Exports: Markdown (the running order with times, roles and host cues), a CSV running order to print and keep by the mic, and the energy curve as SVG. ## Sources - Built on the SkillSafe skill @jwynia/scene-sequencing (Dwight Swain's scene-sequel rhythm for pacing): https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@jwynia/scene-sequencing - Why now: karaoke is booming again - "sober karaoke" rising with Gen Z and earlier bookings (https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/articles/sober-karaoke-rise-gen-z-170000751.html) and karaoke habits changing in 2026 (https://singa.com/blog/karaoke-singing-habits/). - API: https://mic-rotation.skillsafe.ai/api.html
