Karaoke night, 8pm sharp
Call the next singer before the room goes quiet.
Three ballads in a row and the room checks its phones. Four belters in a row and nobody has a voice left for the closer. Paste the sign-up sheet: the page draws the night's energy curve and flags what a host would catch. Ask for the check when you want every slot re-ordered with a role, cuts if the night runs over, and a few lines for the host to say.
1 The sign-up sheet
One slot a line: singer | song | minutes | energy 1-5 | solo, duet or group, e.g. Theo | Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond | 3:25 | 4 | solo. Only singer and song are needed - a missing length counts as 3.5 min and a missing energy as 3, both marked as estimates. Two names (Lou & Kat) make a duet; Everyone makes a group song. A plain list (Theo - Sweet Caroline) or a .csv export from a sign-up form works too.
2 The night
Changeover is the gap between songs - finding the track, passing the mic. 30 to 60 seconds is typical; a busy bar runs longer.
3 The energy curve
- 1 slow
- 3 mid
- 5 belter
- estimated
- fix
- worth a look
- duet
- group
- booking ends

What the page sees
The rules the page uses
- Back to back = one singer in two consecutive slots. Second turn = someone sings again before every singer has had a first turn (duets and group songs count for each named singer).
- Slump = three or more songs at energy 1-2 in a row. Burnout = four or more at energy 4-5 in a row.
- Opener = the first song is energy 1-2. Closer = the last song is energy 3 or less. Tough follow = a first-timer's solo right after an energy-5 solo.
- Repeat = the same song title twice. Overrun = songs plus changeovers run past the booking.
- Rebuild = a repeat, or more than 10% over the booking. Reshuffle = any other fix or worth-a-look flag. Keep = none.
- Energy and length are what you type, or the page's estimates - it does not know the songs. These are a host's rules of thumb.
4 Get the check
Metered. The check reads the sheet, the curve and your notes, puts every slot in an order that builds - a peak, then a breather - gives each slot a role, cuts slots only when the night cannot fit the booking, writes a few host cues and says keep, reshuffle or rebuild. The page re-runs its rules on the new order and says what is still off.
Take it with you
The .csv lists each slot in the order shown with its start time, singer, song, type, length, energy, which values were estimates, and the check's role and reason - print it and keep it by the mic, or print this page for the running order and the host cues. Copy for group chat gives plain times, names and songs.
